Tom Carruthers

Co-President of Australian Science Communicators

Dr. Tom Carruthers is a scientist, communicator and creative, with experience working in the Australian university, government and not-for-profit sectors. Recently elected co-president of the Australian Science Communicators, he is a visionary leader who motivates teams to share in success. A rapid learner and divergent thinker, he develops bespoke solutions to unique problems, and designs innovative ways to evolve programs and initiatives to achieve more.

Dr. Tom Carruthers was awarded Doctor of Philosophy (Biological Chemistry) in 2014 and Master of Science Communication (Outreach) in 2015. He is the Member and Chartered Chemist with the Royal Australian Chemical Institute (MRACI CChem), Member of the Australian Science Communicators (ASC) and Member of the Public Communication of Science and Technology (PCST) Network. He is the Communications Operations Manager of Australian Academy of Science (and other roles 2017- ) and was the Co-CEO of Pint of Science Australia (2017-2021).
