—AI for Science Museums

  The International Training Workshop on Capacity Building for Professionals of Science Centers and Museums announces its 2026 training workshop planned for 17-21 September 2026, at China Science and Technology Museum (CSTM) in Beijing, China.

  In this workshop, international and Chinese experts will share their experience and expertise on the above topics, and also refer to CIMUSET strategies, such as digital accessibility, serving as a bridge, and towards a sustainable future.

  The program will include case studies, group work, and expert guidance to AI-integrated science education exhibition concepts and educational programs tailored for science museums.

  Note: The above schedule is provisional. A refined version, with confirmed timings, will be provided in the second announcement.

  3 Participants Profile

  An overall assessment of the applications will take into account the gender balance of the applicants as well as the range of types and sizes of museums and centers where the applicants work.Preference will be given to ICOM-CIMUSET members.

  Target Participants:

  Professionals working in science centers, science museums, and related informal science education institutions.

  Requirements:

  [1]ICOM Members (individual) or ICOM Members (Institutional);

  [2]Fluent in both spoken and written English;

  [3]Occupying middle-level management or senior developer position in a recognized science centers and museums; having a solid professional background and a thorough comprehension of present conditions and developments in science centers and museums, and have completed, supervised, or participated in the research and development of at least two Exhibitions or Educational programs for science and technology museums.

  [4]Aged 45 years and under (Born after 1st January 1981).

  4.Number of participants setting

  Recruitment of 40 participants: 20 international participants; 20 Chinese participants.

  5.Material submitted

  All applications must be accompanied by the following documents in English:

  - A fully completed Application Form;

  - A Curriculum Vitae indicating training, work experience, publications and current work responsibilities (one page maximum);

  - A Motivation Letter describing how the training workshop fits into your career development plan and how it will assist you in your current position, and giving answers to three (3) questions (maximum 500 words).

  - A letter of recommendation from the director or CEO of the applicant’s institution;

  - A copy of the first page of the passport. IMPORTANT: Your passport needs to be valid at least until 31st March 2027.

  By applying for the workshop, the applicants agree to: 

  - Provide the medical travel insurance documents to China Science and Technology Museum before arranging the travel plan. If the applicant fails to provide the travel medical insurance documents, the medical expense that might incur during the workshop shall be borne by the applicant himself/herself.

  - Do preparatory work prior to the workshop – readings and homework; 

  - Participate in an evaluation of the workshop. 

  DEADLINE: Application deadline is Midnight (UTC/GMT +8.00), July 15, 2026

  6. Notes on Fees

  Visa costs, medical travel insurance coverage and other expenses not explicitly stated above are at the cost of the participants. There are no registration fees for attending the training workshop.

  Scholarships are available for selected participants, covering international travel (economy class) and accommodation during the training. Applications will open soon – stay tuned.
